Flash Drive Freedom

The flash drive is such an amazing innovation.
They are about 2.75 inches long including the USB plug in.
The flash drive can weigh as little as 13 grams.
Flash drives can easily fit in the palm of your hand.

A flash drive is a computer memory storage device.
It replaces the floppy disc, and the compact disc. The limits of the floppy are about 1.5 megabytes of information. A compact disc stores about 700 megabytes of data. The flash can hold up to 64 gigabytes of information.

The newest, larger memory capacity flash drives, cost up to a few thousand dollars.
In time the price comes down. For example a 16 gigabyte flash drive, will cost about $50.00 to $70.00. That size of drive can store 14 theater length movies.

The Flash drive is easy to use. Just plug it in to the USB port of a computer.
The computer will ask what application to use with it.
Window explorer is used to see the files on the drive.
The computer folder tree will show where the flash drive is located.
Clicking on the drive icon will display the contents.
You save files to the flash drive just like your hard drive,
using save as, from the file menu.

Here are a few of the less desirable points of the flash drive.
The newest large memory capacity flash drives, are expensive. Flash drives are so small, care must be taken
not to lose them. The drives are so small they could easily fall out of your hand. They can be worn around the neck hanging from a necklace.

The desirable qualities of the flash drive include its’ easy portability.
It can store a practical amount of data to be useful for business, school, or recreational uses.
The flash drive is easy to use. Just plug it in and it is ready to go. The flash drive is easy to disconnect from the computer. Use the computer’s safely remove hardware feature, then unplug the flash drive.

The future holds a much bigger role for the flash dive.
There exists the possibility of it replacing the computer hard drive.
