Don't get Burnt by Parky's Heating
This is my experience with Parky's Heating & Ventilation.
I purchased a wood heater for my home from a local hardware
store. This was a secondary source of heat for my home.
A wood heating system is considerably more risky than conventional sources, such as oil, propane, of electricity.
The higher fire insurance policy rates for wood heat prove this fact.
So I needed the heater installed by professionals to make it
as safe to use as possible.
I made an inquiry at Parky's. Their representative gave me
a verbal estimate on the installation that was several hundred dollars.
A few days later the installers arrived and began work.
First they cut a hole in the roof of my home.
A metal chimney, roof jack, and stove pipe were installed.
The heater was connected to the stove pipe.
It all looked good.
When the first fire was set in the heater everything worked well.
The invoice for the installation arrived a few days later. The amount to be paid was significantly higher than the verbal quote I had been given.
It was several hundred dollars higher, than the verbal estimate.
The work had been done, and I had to pay the bill.
The moral of this story is, always, ask for and receive a signed written estimate on company stationary, before any work begins.
The good part in this is that, the Parky's installers did good work. Their installation survives intact, and in sound condition to this day.
